Newick Rootz volunteers were out on their first workday of 2023 this morning. The footpath network is very muddy of course at the moment and the weeds are not growing (yet!), so there were just a couple of jobs to do. We repaired a stile at the western end of Beechlands Mill Wood and also installed a new waymark post at the Jackies Lane end of the path that crosses Newick Common.
We also took on an extra job, which was to cut back the hedge that was encroaching on to one of the parking spaces at the King George V Recreation Ground. This is the designated disabled space next to the new exercise equipment that is currently being installed, so we now have two full-sized parking spaces again, as you can see from the "before" and "after" pictures.
